EADV Task Forces

EADV Task Forces are groups of specialists in different fields of dermatology and venereology that bring together a specific set of skills and expertise to enable EADV to influence and advance research and knowledge on subjects with scientific, clinical or educational relevance.

Each task force is focused on a specialty area of dermato-venereology and can be considered a “centre of excellence”, internal to EADV, playing a crucial role in fostering and advancing medical and patient education, information, communication on latest advances, cutting-edge studies, discoveries and expert opinion statements.

Task Forces also promote innovation by stimulating the initiation of projects and proposals related to their area of expertise. They also play an advisory role to EADV regarding trends or unmet needs in clinical practice, education and research in or advocacy for dermatology and venereology.

Task Forces are regulated by a set of principles detailed in the form of bylaws.

Click here to read the Task Force Bylaws currently in force and refer to them for guidance to Task Forces’ aims, duties, practices and principles.

Bylaws were first approved by the Board in 2015 and have been subsequently updated in 2020 and 2025.

Task Forces are coordinated and overseen in their activities by an elected Task Force Facilitator (TFF). The TFF receives administrative support to oversee Task Forces by the EADV TF Office, and fulfils the following roles:

  • Review the initial application and the annual report of TFs.
  • Compose reports to the EC/Board on the initiation, status and progress of TFs.
  • Co-ordinate and mediate the interaction of TFs with EC/Board/Committees.
  • Review the content of any material produced by TFs.
  • Assess any specific requests by TFs and make requisite proposals to the EC/Board.

The TFF is elected by the EADV Board for a four-year term and shall serve a maximum of one term of office.

  • Develop medical and patient educational materials
  • Support the EADV in the organisation of scientific sessions, online or face-to-face courses within their area of expertise
  • Allow the EADV to influence awareness and information on matters related to special fields within dermato-venereology (e.g. by reviewing and/or producing evidence-based guidelines for clinical practice, preparing position statements and/or providing expert opinion)
  • Develop proposals or projects for consideration by the Project Proposal Review Committee (PPRC) or seek funding by other agencies to instigate and conduct studies in their area of expertise.
  • Make Speaker and cutting-edge topics suggestions to the EADV Scientific Programming Committee (SPC) for Congresses and Symposia

Moreover, they may:

  • Serve as contact to other EADV Committees when necessary
  • Propose and/ or be involved in research projects (e.g. EU projects, multicenter trials etc.)
  • Organise small meetings (with maximum 20 participants) during the annual EADV events (Symposium and/or Congress) *

* Exception: the “European Task Force Atopic dermatitis” (ETFAD) was an already existing Subspecialty Society with own rules which put itself under the patronage of EADV as “Eczema Task Force”; therefore, ETFAD maintains the right to propose its own Subspecialty meeting at EADV congresses. This right was not automatically granted to the other Task Forces.
