EADV Task Force EPIDEMIOLOGY

Mission

The mission of the Task Force Epidemiology is to advance high‑quality, collaborative research to improve the understanding, prevention, and treatment of skin diseases. It strengthens epidemiological methods in dermatology, supports international data harmonisation, and promotes evidence‑based decision‑making through shared expertise, consensus building, and global partnerships.

The Task Force Epidemiology translates its mission into action by coordinating research, building methodological capacity, and fostering international collaboration across dermatologic epidemiology. In practice, the TF:

  • Identifies and prioritises key epidemiological questions in Dermatology and Venereology relevant to Europe.
  • Supports high-quality multicentre research by contributing to major European and international studies (e.g., psoriasis, hand eczema, zelanoma, atopic eczema).
  • Develops consensus and methodological standards, including eDelphi studies, core domain sets, and recommendations (e.g., dose reduction of biologics, core outcomes for hand eczema, methotrexate dosing, registry harmonization).
  • Harmonises data collection internationally, contributing to TREAT, C3 (Chord Cousin Collaboration), and other registries to improve comparability and enable pooled analyses across countries.
  • Facilitates knowledge dissemination through publications, evidence based updates, and participation in Cochrane Skin, Centre of Evidence Based Dermatology meetings, and European Dermato-Epidemiology Network collaborations.
  • Promotes education and capacity building via summer schools, AI-in-dermatology training, epidemiology workshops, and planned EADV clinical research & epidemiology workshops.
  • Contributes to global initiatives such as the Global Atopic Dermatitis Atlas (GADA), Global Derm Epi Seminar Series, and ILDS linked epidemiology efforts.
  • Strengthens collaboration within EADV by working closely with other Task Forces, committees, and Core Outcome Sets related initiatives to improve research quality and methodological coherence.
