EADV Task Force Psychodermatology
EADV Task Force Psychodermatology Mission
The Psychodermatology Task Force advances evidence-based understanding of the interaction between skin and mental health. It aims to improve patient outcomes by integrating psychological and dermatological wellbeing, addressing the often underestimated psychosocial burden of skin disease, critically evaluating emerging clinical and academic evidence through relevant research, education, and expert consensus.
The EADV Task Force on Psychodermatology pursues its mission through scientific, clinical, and evidence-based activities and will critically evaluate and respond to misleading or non-evidence-based claims on dermatology and mental health including public and industry-facing communications. The TF has initiated, developed and completed large European multicentre studies on the psychological burden of skin disease.
Other activities include:
- Developing European guidelines and consensus statements using systematic literature review and Delphi methodology (e.g. on body dysmorphic disorder, trichotillomania, delusion of infestation and related disorders)
- Pioneering newer and more extensive psychodermatology classifications
- Generating evidence for the pan-European development of psychodermatology
- Empowering patients
- The Task force is in close contact with the European Society of Dermatology and Psychiatry (ESDaP)
