EADV Task Force Occupational Skin Diseases
Mission
Skin diseases in many countries are the most frequent occupational diseases. The Task Force Occupational Skin Disease addresses work-related skin conditions such as occupational skin cancer in outdoor workers, hand eczema due to wet work, and occupational contact allergies. It fosters international exchange to compare recognition practices, prevention strategies, and reporting and management approaches, enabling shared learning and improved prevention across countries.
The Task Force actively works to advance understanding, reporting, recognition, and prevention of occupational skin diseases across Europe by:
- Exchanging expertise among members on occupational skin conditions such as skin cancer in outdoor workers, hand eczema due to wet work, and occupational contact allergies
- Comparing national practices regarding reporting and recognition of occupational skin diseases, including differences in compensation and legal frameworks
- Sharing prevention strategies, including workplace interventions, education, and early detection approaches
- Identifying gaps and challenges in diagnosis, reporting, and management of occupational skin diseases
- Promoting international collaboration to harmonise approaches and improve standards of care
- Supporting awareness and knowledge transfer to clinicians, researchers, and policymakers; e.g. annual Multi-Stakeholder Summit on Occupational Skin Cancer
- Running public awareness campaigns: europrevention campaign: healthy skin @ work (Slogan: “Your skin. The most important 2m² of your life”)
Through these activities, the Task Force contributes to improved prevention, earlier diagnosis, and better management of occupational skin diseases across different countries.
