EADV Task Force HAIR DISEASES

The EADV Hair Task Force was created from a shared vision: to give hair and scalp disorders the scientific attention, clinical structure, and collaborative energy they truly deserve within European dermatology.

Hair diseases are often underestimated, yet they carry a deep medical and psychological impact. Our mission begins with acknowledging this burden and working collectively to improve the lives of patients affected by these conditions.

The Task Force exists to connect people before projects, bringing together dermatologists who share a passion for trichology. By creating this network, we aim to stimulate meaningful dialogue, spark research ideas, and transform everyday clinical challenges into opportunities for innovation and progress.

One of our central purposes is education. We are committed to building accessible, high-quality learning opportunities through EADV congress sessions, focused workshops, training initiatives, and practical resources. We want clinicians at every career stage to feel more confident diagnosing and managing hair disorders, supported by up-to-date knowledge and shared experience.

Research is another cornerstone of our work. The Task Force promotes collaborative studies, real-world data collection, and the development of consensus documents and guidelines that can harmonize care across countries. We believe that progress in trichology depends on strong bridges between clinical practice and scientific discovery.

Our values are rooted in openness, inclusivity, and mentorship. We strive to create a welcoming environment where early-career dermatologists can grow, where diverse perspectives are respected, and where ethical, patient-centered thinking guides every initiative.

Ultimately, the EADV Hair Task Force is more than a working group, it is a community. A space where expertise is shared generously, innovation is encouraged, and the common goal remains clear: advancing hair science while delivering better, more compassionate care to patients across Europe and beyond.

EADV Hair Diseases: Role

The EADV Hair Task Force translates its mission into practical actions aimed at advancing trichology in clinical care, research, and education. Its role is articulated through a range of structured initiatives:

  • Scientific advancement: Promotes and supports multicenter studies, registries, and real-world research on hair and scalp disorders.
  • Guidelines & consensus: Contributes to the development of position statements, diagnostic algorithms, and therapeutic guidelines to harmonize clinical practice.
  • Education & training: Organizes congress sessions, focused symposia, workshops, and webinars within the EADV framework.
  • Knowledge dissemination: Produces educational materials, publications, expert reviews highlighting emerging evidence.
  • Research networking: Connects academic centers to facilitate collaborative grants and translational projects.
  • Innovation scouting: Monitors therapeutic and technological advances (e.g., JAK inhibitors, regenerative medicine, AI-supported diagnostics).
  • Mentorship & career development: Engages early-career dermatologists in Task Force activities, research, and speaking opportunities.
  • Patient-centered advocacy: Raises awareness of the psychosocial burden of hair diseases and promotes improved standards of care.
  • Interdisciplinary collaboration: Builds bridges with endocrinologists, rheumatologists, psychiatrists, and surgeons.
  • Global partnerships: Collaborates with international hair research societies to align standards and initiatives.
  • Digital education: Develops online learning tools, case libraries, and virtual training formats.

Through these activities, the Task Force actively strengthens the scientific, educational, and clinical landscape of trichology across Europe and beyond.
