EADV Guidelines Development
The European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV) invites applications from EADV members for the development of high-quality European clinical guidelines and recommendations in the field of dermatology and venereology
This initiative aims to support the standardisation and harmonisation of dermatological care across Europe, improve patient outcomes, and strengthen evidence-based clinical practice. Approved guidelines will be published in the Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (JEADV).
EADV Guidelines Development
Eligibility criteria
Applications will be considered eligible only if all the following conditions are fulfilled:
Applicant Eligibility
- The Applicant must be an active EADV member at the time of application and throughout the duration of the project. The applicant must be the Project Leader/Convenor.
Project Eligibility
- The proposed project must focus on the development of a new clinical guideline (maximum duration: 18 months) or an update of an existing guideline (maximum duration: 12 months).
- The topic must address a relevant clinical need in dermatovenereology and be aligned with the strategic objectives of EADV.
Group Composition Requirements
A complete guideline group must be proposed, including:
- Convenor
- Methodologist
- Fellow
- Two (2) patient representatives
- Two (2) young investigators
- One (1) health professional
- Additional members via open call, where applicable
The guideline group must:
- Include experts from at least five (5) different countries
- Include no more than 25 total members
- Respect the rule that no member may serve on more than three (3) active guideline groups simultaneously.
Conflict of Interest Requirements
- All proposed members must submit a Conflict-of-Interest Declaration (COI).
- Any new or updated conflicts of interest arising during guideline development must be declared to EADV without delay.
Methodological Eligibility
Projects must demonstrate:
- Use of recognised guideline development methodology
- Use of structured clinical questions
- A clear plan for systematic literature review and evidence grading.
A structured and transparent consensus development and voting process.
Tenure and level of support
New guideline development may have a maximum duration of up to 18 months. Guideline updates may have a maximum duration of up to 12 months.
Guideline development starts the year after application submission deadline. This is following a formal evaluation of the application process by the EADV.
EADV will fund approved guideline development proposals up to a maximum budget of:
- EUR 45’000 for new guidelines
- EUR 30’000 for guideline updates
Eligible costs include, for example:
- Coordination and project management costs
- Meetings (in-person or virtual)
- Literature research and systematic reviews
- Methodologist/administrative/technical support
- Travel expenses
- Dissemination and publication-related costs
Rules and conditions
- An investigator may submit only one application as Project Leader per call.
- An investigator cannot apply as Project Leader if they are already leading an ongoing EADV-funded guideline project.
- Members of the EADV Board and Committees may apply but may not receive personal financial compensation from the project funds.
- EADV executive officers are not eligible to apply as Project Leaders.
- No commercial sponsorship or overlap with other funded projects is permitted.
- Funding will be first allocated at the end of the submission year.
- The funding period starts at the beginning of the year that follows the application submission deadline. To consider this for the project time plan and budget.
Progress/Final report and publications
Funding recipients are required to submit (in English)
- a progress report that conveys what sub-goals have been accomplished
- a final report at the end of the project period on the work undertaken
The report must be uploaded to the MyEADV portal.
Outcomes must be:
- Submitted for presentation at the EADV Congress via abstract submission
- Published in the JEADV

All documentation requested shall be collected and submitted to the EADV by the applicant. All documentation must be in English.
