Fellow

Definition:

This category of membership is open to:

  • Specialists in Dermatology and/or Venereology who are certified as specialists in Europe.
  • European nationals who are certified as specialists in Dermatology and/or Venereology.

Fellow Members shall be entitled to vote and are eligible to be elected to the Board and as Officers of the Academy.

Documentation to provide:

  1. Copy of your ID card or passport showing your personal data (information must be understandable to international readers)
  2. Confirmation of specialisation in dermatology and/or venereology, one of the below documents:
    • Board certification in Dermatology and/or Venereology
      OR
    • An official letter in English from your National Society certifying board-certified specialist status
      OR
    • An extract from the national health registry of your country of practice.

Scientist with PHD in D&V

This category of membership is open to scientists holding a PhD degree in Dermatology and/or Venereology and/or Cutaneous Biology and who are engaged in full-time research in these subjects.

Scientist with PhD Members are entitled to vote and are eligible to be elected to the Board and to serve as Officers of the Academy.

Documentation to provide:

  1. A copy of your ID card or passport showing your personal data. The information must be understandable to international readers.
  2. Your PhD diploma (or equivalent), demonstrating that the PhD was obtained in Dermatology, Venereology and/or Cutaneous Biology. The document must be provided in English or accompanied by a certified English translation.
  3. Confirmation of your current full-time research activity in Dermatology, Venereology and/or Cutaneous Biology.

Senior

Definition:

This category of membership is open to specialists in Dermatology and/or Venereology who have retired (i.e., reached 65 years of age). However, Fellow Members who reach 65 years of age may continue to stay in the Fellow Members category with all rights and obligations, should they so wish.

All members choosing to become Senior Members shall pay reduced membership fees, and are eligible to vote, but are not eligible to be elected to the Board or as Officers of the Academy.

Documentation to provide:

  1. Copy of your ID card or passport showing your personal data (information must be understandable to international readers)
  2. Confirmation of specialisation in dermatology and/or venereology, one of the below documents:
    • Board certification in Dermatology and/or Venereology
      OR
    • An official letter in English from your National Society certifying board-certified specialist status
      OR
    • An extract from the national health registry of your country of practice.

Junior Fellow

Definition:

This category of membership is open to Fellow Members under the age of 35 who have recently been certified as a specialist in Dermatology and/or Venereology. Members have the option of continuing in this category after full specialisation until they reach 35 years of age.

Junior Fellows are entitled to apply to become Fellow Members before reaching 35 years of age if they so wish and if they satisfy the requirements for Fellow Members membership outlined in EADV Statute 5 (B).

Junior Fellows shall pay a reduced membership fee.

Junior Fellows shall be entitled to vote but are not eligible to be elected to the Board or as Officers of the Academy.

Junior Scientist with PHD in D&V

Definition:

This category of membership is open to PhD scientists in Dermatology and/or Venereology.

A Junior Member may become a Scientist with PhD Member provided he/she produces evidence of completion of scientific training according to the application procedure set out in Article 4 (A) of these Statutes. Junior Members have the option of continuing in this category even after PhD completion until they reach 35 years of age.

Scientists under 35 years of age are entitled to apply to become Scientist with PhD Members before reaching the age of 35 years if they so wish and if they satisfy the requirements for Fellow Member membership outlined in Statute 5(B) above.

Junior Members are entitled to vote but are not eligible to be elected to the Board or to serve as Officers of the Academy.

Definition:

This membership category is open to physicians in full-time training in dermatology and/or venereology, with the potential to become specialists in dermatology or venereology certified in Europe.

Junior Residents shall pay a reduced membership fee.

Junior Residents shall be entitled to vote but are not eligible to be elected to the Board or as Officers of the Academy.

Documentation to provide:

  1. Copy of your ID card or passport showing your personal data (information must be understandable to international readers)
  2. Up-to date residency/training confirmation in English indicating the beginning and expected end of your training in Dermatology and/or Venereology on official letter-headed paper, signed and stamped by the head of the department

Junior Scientist in full time training in D&V

Definition:

This category of membership is open to scientists in full time training in Dermatology and/or Venereology.

A Junior Scientist in full-time training may become a Junior Scientist with PhD or a Scientist with PhD Member, as applicable, provided that they produce evidence of completion of their scientific training and/or the relevant certification, in accordance with the application procedure set out in EADV Statute 4 (A).

Junior Scientists in full-time training are entitled to vote but are not eligible to be elected to the Board or to serve as Officers of the Academy.

Documentation to provide:

  1. A copy of your ID card or passport showing your personal data. The information must be understandable to international readers.
  2. A letter from the Head of Department confirming that you are a PhD student in the Department of Dermatology and/or Venereology, stating your PhD start date, expected completion date, and the topic of your PhD thesis in dermatology and/or venereology.

Associate – Non-Dermatovenereologist

Definition:

This category of membership is open to individuals who hold a PhD, MSc, MD or equivalent university degree relevant to dermatology and/or venereology, and whose professional or scientific activities demonstrate a substantive connection to the field.

Documentation to provide:

  1. Copy of your ID card or passport showing your personal data (information must be understandable to international readers)
  2. Copy of your PhD, MSc, MD, or equivalent university degree relevant* to Dermatology and/or Venereology
  1. Confirmation of current professional or scientific engagement in Dermatology and/or Venereology
  2. Two endorsers’ names: your endorsers must be registered as EADV (International) Fellow Members and must have voting rights.

Medical Student (European and International)

Definition:

This category of membership is open to

  • Medical students who have not yet achieved their medical degree and who show interest in Dermatology/Venereology
  • Medical students who have not yet started a training in Dermatology

Student Members shall not be entitled to vote and are not eligible to be elected to the Board or as Officers of the Academy.

Documentation to provide (information must be understandable to international readers):

  1. Copy of your ID card or passport showing your personal data 
  2. Up-to-date certificate indicating the beginning and expected end of medical studies on official hospital or university letter-headed paper, signed and stamped by the University competent office or by the head of the department

Nurse (European and International)

Definition:

This category of membership is open to licensed practical, registered or practitioner nurses involved in the nursing care of dermatology and venereology patients.

Nurse Members shall be entitled to vote but are not eligible to be elected to the Board or as Officers of the Academy.

Documentation to provide:

  1. Copy of your ID card or passport showing your personal data (information must be understandable to international readers)
  2. Confirmation of professional status, one of the below documents:
    • Copy of current Nurse License/Diploma OR
    • Official letter in English from a Dermatological Nursing Society
  3. Recommendation letter from an EADV (International) Fellow Member with voting rights, affirming involvement in the nursing care of dermatology and venereology patients.

International Fellow

Definition:

This category of membership is open to: Specialists in Dermatology and/or Venereology of non-European nationality who are certified as specialists outside Europe and who provide evidence of certification and whose application is approved according to Article 4 of these Statutes

International Fellow Members are entitled to vote and are eligible as Board Members and as Members of all Committees with the exception of the Finance Committee. They are not eligible as Committee Chairpersons or Executive Committee Members.

Documentation to provide:

  1. Copy of your ID card or passport showing your personal data (information must be understandable to international readers)
  2. Confirmation of specialisation in dermatology and/or venereology, one of the below documents:
    • Board certification in Dermatology and/or Venereology (in English or with a certified English translation)
      OR
    • An official letter in English from the National Society certifying board-certified specialist status
      OR
    • An extract from the national health registry of the country of practice.
