Applications for the EADV Scholarships to attend the 2024 Congress are now open

Every year, in occasion of both the Symposium and the Congress, the EADV Honours and Awards Committee, under the chairpersonship of Prof. Asja Prohic, offers scholarships consisting of complimentary registration, a travel stipend of 1000 EUR and a one-year EADV membership for the following calendar year.

EADV Scholarships are only assigned to those participants travelling to attend the relevant event in person.

  • Michael Hornstein Memorial Scholarship
    EADV will offer this scholarship to one selected applicant from each Central, Eastern, Western & Northern European country.
  • John Stratigos Memorial Scholarship
    EADV will offer this scholarship to one selected applicant from each Southern European & Mediterranean country.
  • Imrich Sarkany non-European Memorial Scholarship
    EADV will offer this scholarship to a maximum of thirty (30) young dermato-venereologists from non-European countries.

Grants 2024 / 2025

Call for applications for the 2024 SDS Grant closed on 29 November 2023

Once a year, the Scottish Dermatological Society (SDS) invites one (1) trainee or young dermatologist from Eastern Europe to attend their Annual General Meeting. The SDS meeting 2024 will be held on 6 and 7 June in Edinburgh (location TBC), United Kingdom.

The successful applicant from Eastern Europe will receive a fellowship grant of £750.00, along with free registration to attend the SDS Annual meeting and a £500.00 stipend to cover accommodation costs.

 Eligible countries:Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Georgia, Hungary, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Russian Federation, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine.
Award criteria: 
  1. Must be a young dermatovenereologist or resident/trainee under 40 years of age (at the time of the application)
  2. Must be an EADV Member
  3. Must currently be practising in an Eastern European country
  4. Must be fluent in English
  5. Must not have previously received this Grant nor being selected for another Scholarship/Grant in the same year
  6. Will be expected to prepare a brief report at the conclusion of his/her experience
Documents to be submitted (in English): 
  1. The Scholarship Application Form completed online
  2. A short CV (not more than 3 pages)
  3. list of publications written as explained in the document “How to prepare my publications list” available here.

  4. letter of support (endorsing the application) on official headed paper, written, signed, and stamped either by the training director, head of department or competent office
  5. A confirmation of professional status, one of the below:
    • A current copy in English of the applicant’s training certificate indicating the start and end date
    • OR The original copy in English (or certified translation) of the applicant’s specialist certificate
  6. copy of ID (i.e. identity card, passport)

Once a year, the British Society for Paediatric and Adolescent Dermatology (BSPAD) invites two (2) trainees or dermatologists from Eastern Europe to attend their Annual General Meeting. The BSPAD meeting will be held on 8 and 9 November 2024 in Cambridge, United Kingdom.

The two successful applicants from Eastern Europe will receive free registration to the BSPAD Annual meeting along with a grant of GBP 500 towards travel and accommodations, kindly provided by the British Society of Paediatric and Adolescent Dermatology.

The French Society of Dermatology (FSD) offers three (3) grants to young dermatologists from Europe to facilitate the attendance of the French-Speaking JDP congresses: Journées Dermatologiques de Paris which will be held in Paris, France at Palais des congrès -Porte Maillot, from 3 to 7 December 2024.

Eligible countries:Three (3) winners working in a European country (at the time of the application).
Award criteria:
  1. Must be a young dermatovenereologist or resident/trainee under 40 years of age (at the time of application)
  2. Must be a EADV member
  3. Must currently be practising in a European country
  4. Must be fluent in French
  5. Must not have previously received this Grant nor being selected for another Scholarship/Grant in the same year
  6. Will be expected to prepare a brief report at the conclusion of their experience

The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) offers three (3) grants to young certified specialist in dermatology and/or venereology from Europe to facilitate the attendance to the AAD’s Annual Meeting taking place in Orlando, Florida from 7 to 11 March, 2025.

The grant includes a stipend of $1,000 USD delivered at the meeting, complimentary registration for the meeting, admission to one half day session, an invitation to attend the International Scholarship Reception and Dinner, as well as the International Member Reception.

This scholarship program is based on reciprocal agreements between the AAD and the EADV.

Eligible countries:Three (3) winners working in a European country (at the time of the application).
Award criteria:
  1. Must be a certified specialist in dermatology and/or venereology under 40 years of age (at the time of application)
  2. Must be an EADV member
  3. Must be working in a European country
  4. Must be fluent in English
  5. Must not have previously received this Grant nor being selected for another Scholarship/Grant in the same year
  6. Will be expected to prepare a brief report at the conclusion of their experience

Awards

Every year, in occasion of the Congress, the EADV Honours and Awards Committee, under the chairpersonship of Prof. Asia Prohic, offers to one specialist or resident in dermatology and/or venereology who is an EADV member and a member of the EADV Alumni Club an award consisting of:

  • a free registration to the EADV Congress
  • a travel stipend of 1000€
  • a free membership for the next calendar year
  • an invitation to speak at the EADV Congress scheduled for the upcoming year

The selected awardee will hold a 10-minute lecture during the Scholarship Ceremony taking place during the Congress about his/her professional and scientific career.

Application mandatory criteria:

  • Must be an EADV Member
  • Must have been previously awarded one of the EADV Scholarships (MHMS, JSMS, ISNEMS) and be part of the EADV Alumni Club
  • Must be under 45 years of age (at the time of the application)
  • Must have adequate knowledge of the English language
  • Must present on his/her professional career during the scholarship ceremony
  • Will be expected to prepare a brief report at the conclusion of their experience
  • Must not have previously received this award nor being selected for another Scholarship/Grant in the same year

Required documentation:

  • A short CV (not more than 3 pages)
  • A list of publications written as explained in the document “How to prepare my publications list” available online. You may download the relevant list of publications template from here

Evaluation of applications is made based on an objective assessment of the applicant’s scientific activities, according to the below scoring system:

IMPORTANT: Only complete applications filled in according to the requested format will be considered by the Honours and Awards Committee. Applications that are incomplete and/or not filled in properly will be automatically rejected.
We advise that applicants do not wait until the last day to submit the application as the whole procedure and eventual reviews require time to be finalised.
