The gold standard for the diagnosis of melanoma remains histology, but the excision of all and any suspicious lesions is too costly on several levels. RCM and LC-OCT imaging is less invasive, but the current price of these devices often restricts their use to larger centers. This is where dermoscopy shines, being very cheap while still boosting specificity and sensitivity.

Come and raise your capacity to diagnose melanoma and diminish the number of benign lesions you excise while doing so!

Using many images of pigmented lesions, the lecture presents the characteristic dermoscopic features of melanocytic lesions and melanoma, and how to interpret each individually or as a group. Pitfalls and special areas (facial, acral regions and mucosae, but not nails) will be presented as well.
