Study reveals significant stigma associated with female adult acne

A new study presented today at the EADV Congress reveals the significant stigma associated with female adult acne and its profound impact on how individuals are perceived in social settings.

The findings showed that individuals with acne are perceived as less attractive, trustworthy, confident, successful, dominant and happy. Surprisingly, generalised acne, covering a larger area with more lesions, received more positive ratings than images featuring adult female acne concentrated around the U-zone.

This research emphasises the heavy emotional and psychological burden experienced by individuals with acne.
