From January 2027, the Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (JEADV) will transition to a fully online publication model. This change marks a significant milestone in the journal’s evolution, reflecting EADV’s ongoing commitment to modern, sustainable and digitally focused scientific publishing.
After January 2027, JEADV will no longer be printed or distributed in physical format. All content — original articles, reviews, guidelines and clinical insights — will be published and accessed exclusively online, in line with the direction already taken by many leading scientific journals worldwide.
A More Sustainable Publishing Model
Ending print publication and print subscriptions is a direct, tangible step toward reducing JEADV’s environmental footprint. By moving away from physical production and distribution, the journal will:
- Reduce paper consumption and other printing-related resources
- Cut down on packaging, shipping and associated waste
- Lower the carbon emissions linked to print production and global distribution
This decision supports EADV’s broader sustainability strategy and its continued transition toward more efficient, environmentally responsible digital solutions across all its activities and publications.
Maintaining Access and Enhancing the Reader Experience
While the format is changing, JEADV’s commitment to its members and readers is not. The transition has been carefully designed to maintain — and wherever possible enhance — the overall experience of engaging with the journal.
Full online access will continue uninterrupted. Members and readers will keep enjoying:
- Immediate, convenient access to the latest research, reviews and clinical insights
- Availability anytime, from anywhere, on any device
- The same rigorous peer-review process and high editorial standards JEADV is known for
For those who still value a printed copy, JEADV will offer members the option to purchase an annual print volume through Wiley’s Member Direct Print-on-Demand (PoD) programme, available at a substantial discount from standard PoD pricing.
Why We’re Making This Change
The move to online-only publication is guided by three core goals:
- Modernise JEADV’s publishing model to reflect current best practice in scientific communication
- Support EADV’s sustainability objectives through reduced resource use and emissions
- Maintain and enhance the member and reader experience, ensuring continued, full and immediate online access to JEADV content
Looking Ahead
JEADV remains fully committed to delivering high-quality, impactful scientific content through a publishing model that is modern, accessible and increasingly sustainable. This transition represents a natural next step in the journal’s ongoing evolution — one that keeps pace with how researchers and clinicians access and use scientific literature today, while reinforcing EADV’s responsibility toward a more sustainable future.
We sincerely thank our members and readers for their continued support and trust as JEADV takes this important step forward in its publishing journey.
