EADV urges EU action on sunbeds
In a new Euractiv article EADV joins MEP Romana Jerković in urging the European Commission to revisit its decision to drop planned rules on sunbed use, a long-overlooked cancer prevention issue.
Sunbeds are classified as Group 1 carcinogens, like tobacco and asbestos. Many EU countries already restrict use by minors. Denmark is now banning sunbeds for under-18s entirely, due to rising melanoma rates. Yet the EU still lacks a harmonised approach on age limits, warnings, and advertising rules.
“The EU cannot afford to lag behind in cancer prevention,” says EADV President Branka Marinović.
